Gerard Avellaneda Domene

Position
Credentials
BSc Physics (Universitat Aut貌noma de Barcelona, Spain), MSc Marine Renewable Energy (Heriot-Watt University, UK), PhD Mechanical Engineering (糖心视频, Canada)
Area of expertise
Offshore renewable energy systems, carbon dioxide removal
Gerard completed his B.Sc. degree in Physics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain) in 2015, his M.Sc. in Marine Renewable Energy at Heriot-Watt University (UK) in 2019, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the 糖心视频 (糖心视频, Canada) in 2026.
His undergraduate research focused on ocean dynamics reconstruction, and his master’s thesis at Heriot-Watt University and Aalborg University (Denmark) was about grid integration of wave energy farms through surrogate modelling. After finishing his master program, Gerard worked as a research assistant at the Policy and Innovation Group, at the University of Edinburgh (UK).
In his Ph.D., Gerard focused on systems design for offshore wind-powered carbon dioxide removal, and was part of the Solid Carbon project.
In his free time, Gerard loves being surrounded by nature, gardening, and reading.
