The STRIDE program is funded through a private donation to IALH.

Trainees enrolled in STRIDE will:

a) Be assigned a faculty mentor for the duration of the program;
b) Participate in team mentored learning;
c) Participate in an interdisciplinary research-related project; and
d) Participate in sharing their research with the community through at least one presentation.

Duration, Time Commitment and Stipend

  • The STRIDE program will run for 12 months starting in November 2026 to October 2027.
  • Trainees will be expected to commit approximately 8 hours per month (including monthly group meetings of 1 to 2 hours).
  • To recognize their participation in the STRIDE program, trainees will receive a $1200 stipend. Half of the stipend ($600) will be paid in December 2026 once the interdisciplinary research project has started; the remaining $600 will be paid following completion of the interdisciplinary research project in October 2027.
Interdisciplinary Research Projects

Interdisciplinary research projects are intended to provide STRIDE trainees with a unique opportunity to learn a new area of research in a structured way, under the supervision of an experienced researcher and mentor, and in collaboration with up to two other trainees from different disciplines.

Based on information provided in a trainee’s application and the interdisciplinary research projects proposed for the year, IALH will assign up to three STRIDE trainees to each mentor. Mentors are IALH Research Fellows. IALH will aim to partner trainees and mentors from different backgrounds to enhance the interdisciplinary experience.
